SECURTEK CONTINUES TO BUILD ITS CUSTOMER BASE AND GROW BUSINESS

April 30, 2001 - SecurTek Monitoring Solutions is continuing with its growth strategy by joining forces with Protec Security Systems, a security and monitoring company that serves customers in the Kamloops, British Columbia area. With this acquisition and dealer arrangement, the homes and businesses of Protec customers will now be monitored at SecurTek's headquarters and Monitoring station in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Protec Security will continue to provide on site service and new sales in the area.

Acquisitions such as this, along with new account growth, have resulted in SecurTek expanding our employee base in Yorkton, and supporting economic growth for the city."

The investment in Protec's customer monitoring and other assets requires funds of about $1.6M. This is a continuation of a cabinet-approved strategy for SecurTek to expand its customer base, and thereby achieve the economies of scale that will return a profit to SecurTek's parent company, SaskTel.
